The Caught in the Act program is designed to recognize noticeable acts of service excellence for which an individual or a team goes out of their way to exceed the expectations of a customer (internal or external).

A staff member of the Transplant ICU at EUH recently reported that one day in mid-March, Anthony Turner (from the Radiology transport team) was quick to assist with a physical altercation between members of a large family in the ICU waiting room. When Anthony happened to walk past the dangerous situation, he calmly stepped in to stop the fight. Witnesses from the unit say they were very impressed with the professional manner in which Anthony conducted himself while diffusing the situation. They would like to thank him for his concern and his quick action toward providing a safe environment for all patients and their families. Anthony’s outstanding and courageous act was recognized and deeply appreciated by not only the staff on the Transplant ICU, but also by his colleagues in Radiology. We wish to thank Anthony for this demonstration of Service Excellence Standard #1 – Safety.

We also wish to recognize Lennex Annor, Imaging Workflow Specialist for Emergency Radiology at EUHM, who went above and beyond to help out his colleagues on Sunday, March 30. Very early that morning, as Lennex was near the end of his shift, there was unexpected, system-wide downtime. After having worked all night, Lennex stayed on for several more hours so that he could assist the staff and physicians in the reading room during the downtime. Lennex’s past experience with downtime procedures, along with his willingness to help colleagues, was critical for the department to maintain service to the ED patients at a time when key systems were down. One radiologist noted that “there is no way this would have gone as smoothly as it did without Lennex.” Thank you, Lennex, for your high level of engagement and dedication to service excellence!

Remember, if you catch anyone in the act of service excellence, please tell us the story by completing this short and simple online submission form.
