Exceeding Expectations: Enhancing the Patient and Family Experience

On our journey to becoming a destination department, we have taken incredible strides in research, education, and clinical care over the past year. Our progress in clinical care ties directly to our strategic goal of enhancing the patient and family experience.

At the beginning of FY16 we set out to improve the patient experience as measured by our Press Ganey patient satisfaction scores. The focus this year was the patient’s “likelihood to recommend.” This question gauges the patient’s perception of his/her overall experience with Emory’s Department of Radiology and essentially asks, “Based on the care you received, would you trust us to care for your loved ones?”

Harold Glenn, Jr., the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences’ service performance consultant, reports the response across many of our sites was a resounding “Yes!”
