Cardiac Imaging Platform for Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy
Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is a standard treatment for heart failure patients with left-ventricular dysfunction and wide QRS duration. About 30-40% of the patients who receive CRT do not respond to the therapy with improved clinical symptoms and/or cardiac function. Our cardiac imaging software platform utilizes myocardial-imaging techniques to assess left-ventricular mechanical dyssynchrony and scar tissue to improve the selection of potential CRT responders and to identify the optimal left-ventricular lead positions for guiding CRT implantation. Our platform is integrated with interventional fluoroscopy venograms, permitting intraoperative use. Our technique to guide CRT implantation has been shown to significantly improve CRT response in two single-center studies and is currently under a randomized, multi-center, prospective clinical trial (GUIDE-CRT) in 23 hospitals in China funded by the Chinese government and Medtronic.
