Letter from the Chair

March 22, 2019

Dear Colleagues,

meltzer

It is officially Spring, which brings beautiful blooms (and pollen) and many multiple radiology subspecialty society meetings in which colleagues gather to push our field ever forward.

And here at home, we have begun the EmPower journey to optimize our care delivery and our clinical environment. Through changes to our daily teamwork, we are re-envisioning how we share opportunities to cut out steps that do not add value to our patient care mission. I applaud Dr. Heilbrun, Vice Chair of Quality, and the Radiology Quality Team for leading the way in our department and across Emory Healthcare.

Our annual Weens Lecture featuring computational scientist and data visualization artist Donna Cox, PhD was a hit. Dr. Cox’s work linking computational precision with the film industry makes science accessible to all. Color cinematic representations splashed across the screen and emphasized the wonder of our relationship with our planet and beyond.

Last week’s Match Day was definitely cause for celebration. Our class of 18 talented and diverse new radiology residents will train in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, and across molecular imaging and research tracks.

Best to all,

Carolyn
