Dr. Yu joined Emory in 2001 and became an Assistant Professor in 2008. Dr. Yu has many years of teaching and research experience in various areas of chemistry. She had her postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School under the supervision of Dr. T. Hasan, and at Emory under the supervision of Dr. Mark Goodman. Dr. Yu has contributed to the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences by assisting in new imaging agent development and drug discovery. Throughout her research career, Dr. Yu has had numerous symposium contributions and publications in professional journals.

Dr. Yu has been well trained in organic/synthetic/medicinal/radio chemistry, and particularly in the preparation of new radiopharmaceuticals containing isotopes of F-18, C-11, I-123/131/125, Br-76, Tc-99m and Cu-64. Dr. Yu’s research has been focused on synthesis of new medicine-related compounds in developing and evaluating molecular imaging probes using PET and SPECT technology for (1) The study and management of cancer treatment and diagnosis; (2) The investigation of peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR) activity and its relationship with human glial tumors and cytokine induced brain inflammation.
