Akinyemi Akintayo, MD, FWACS
Scientist, Assistant
Dr. Akintayo currently works in the Division of Nuclear Medicine on multiple clinical trials including various NIH sponsored research projects investigating the performance of fluciclovine, a novel PET radiotracer, in the detection of various malignancies including brain glioma, prostate cancer among others. He works with departmental faculty to coordinate a multidisciplinary team of diagnostic imagers, technologists, PET radiochemists, medical physicists and research nurses in recruiting, scanning, image interpretation, data analysis, writing and preparation of manuscripts for publication.
Rachel Alpaugh, MBA
Administrative Assistant
Rachel Alpaugh began her role as administrative assistant for the Division of Neuroradiology in October after previously serving as a business consultant at the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center in Savannah. She received her MBA with a focus in healthcare management, leadership, and organizational change from the University of Massachusetts in Boston, where she also worked as a research coordinator at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Rachel is an active member of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
Aron Chary, MD
Assistant Professor
Dr. Chary is an interventional and abdominal radiologist with focused interests in interventional oncology and expanding practical approaches to oncologic imaging. He is also interested in pain and palliation interventions and further researching their evolving role in treating cancer patients. Dr. Chary has recently joined Emory from private practice.
Erin Grady, MD
Director of Nuclear Medicine Education
Dr. Grady previously spent six years as a nuclear medicine physician at Christiana Care Health Systems in Newark, Delaware and joins Emory as Director of Nuclear Medicine Education. She is involved with the American College of Nuclear Medicine, Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, and the American College of Radiology and serves as Chair of the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. As Director of Nuclear Medicine Education, Dr. Grady will split her time between Emory University Hospital, Emory Midtown, and Grady Hospital.Faith Lovell, MBA
Human Resources Generalist
Faith Lovell, MBA joins Emory Radiology as a human resources generalist after working in various capacities in healthcare over the past eight years. She received an MBA from Troy University, a BS in Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama, and is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management. In her role, Faith plans to bring her experience successfully partnering with leadership teams to understand HR needs and building trust through these transactions.Mercy Mutahi
Business Analyst I
Mercy began working at Emory as an imaging informatics intern in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences after graduating from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics and has now taken on a new role as Business Analyst. She believes that technology can be leveraged to improve the efficiency, accuracy, usability and reliability of medical imaging services within the healthcare enterprise.
David Reiter, PhD
Assistant Professor
Dr. Reiter’s research is focused on the development and application of quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS) approaches for addressing basic and applied research questions primarily in the musculoskeletal system. These approaches aim to improve the measurement of biomechanical, biophysical, biochemical, metabolic, and functional tissue properties in healthy and diseased conditions with the goal of obtaining detailed characterization of tissue status and disease progression, and enhanced diagnostic accuracy.
Samia Sayyid, MD
Clinical Research Coordinator
Dr. Sayyid is the new clinical research coordinator for the Division of Musculoskeletal Imaging. Her responsibilities include setting up, monitoring, and completing projects/research projects. Her objective is to write abstracts, poster/exhibits, and oral presentations for local and national meetings as well as to write high impact journal articles to contribute to radiology literature as a result of the research work performed with the Division of Musculoskeletal Imaging. Also, she plans to participate in research projects in collaboration with other medical and surgical specialties such as rheumatology and orthopaedics and also with radiology fellows, residents, and medical students.
Silanath Terpenning, MD
Assistant Professor
Dr. Terpenning is a member of the Division of Cardiothoracic Imaging who comes to Emory from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She is active in several national radiology associations including the Society of Thoracic Radiology and the North American Society of Cardiovascular Imaging. Dr. Terpenning has given presentations at national and international conferences, written manuscripts, and published research articles in her areas of interest, including Computed Tomography and Pulmonary Hypertension.
Derek West, MD
Acting Associate Professor
Dr. West is an interventional radiologist and cancer researcher whose research has focused on the use of electroporation in combination with chemotherapy and/or nanoparticle delivery in the treatment of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. He is also involved in radiogenomic oncologic imaging research and its effects on interventional oncology decision making. He also has a strong interest in diversity and inclusion.
