Letter from the Chair

Dec. 13, 2018

Dear Colleagues,

meltzer

It has been an exciting fall with the usual incredibly robust presence of our faculty, staff, and trainees at the Radiological Society of North America meeting. While the unexpected snowstorm kept a few folks from getting to Chicago, it was a most exciting gathering of professionals in our field. All were abuzz with the promise – and hype – of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential to transform how we deliver imaging care to our patients.

On November 1, we welcomed Greg Q. Hill, JD, to the Emory Radiology team as Executive Administrator and Vice Chair of Administration, and also Vice President of Radiology for Emory Healthcare. Greg joined us from the Medical College of Wisconsin following a national search process initiated by Chuck Powell’s retirement in April. Greg brings a rich skillset and perspective to our strategic priorities.

Emory Healthcare’s new partnership with Kaiser and merger with the former DeKalb Medical System solidify relationships that present both challenges in the short term and great opportunities overall. Since Radiology touches so many of Emory’s patients and providers, our department has been selected to lead Emory Healthcare’s EmPower training that will give us the tools and support to optimize and right-size our care delivery resources.

I wish you a peaceful holiday season and thank each and every one of you for what you do for our patients, each other, and our excellence journey.

Best to all,

Carolyn
